The Product module allows you to manage everything related to the goods and services your organization sells, purchases, manufactures, or tracks. Products can be organized into families and categories, priced dynamically through price books, and linked to operational activities such as goods receives, goods issues, and manufacturing (via Bill of Materials).
Key Features of the Product Module
Product Definition
A Product represents any good or service handled by your business. Each product includes:
- Price Books: You can associate multiple price books with a product to manage pricing based on customer groups, volume, or regions.
- Goods Receives: You can track incoming inventory and automatically update stock levels upon receipt.
- Goods Issues: You can record the movement of stock out of inventory linked to sales, transfer, or consumption.
- Bill of Materials (BOM): You can define the BOM for manufactured or bundled products.
Product Family
You can group related products under a Product Family for easier reporting and sales strategy alignment.
Example:
- Product Family: Smartphones
- Products: Model A, Model B, Model C
Product Categories and Catalogs
Products can be assigned to a Category for logical grouping and reporting. Categories can be structured hierarchically and can belong to catalogs.
- Category: A logical group of products (e.g., Electronics → Accessories).
- Parent Category: Nest categories to create a tree structure.
- Catalog: A collection of categories used for organizing products for different business use cases (e.g., Sales Catalog, Procurement Catalog).
